How it works

To subscribe to our Alert Service all you will need is a mobile phone, and to be capable of sending us a daily text

1. Each morning you will send us a text telling us you are OK. You can send it anytime between 6am to 9.30am. Any message is fine but it must include OK. This can be automated on most phones so you can do it with a single click

2. If we do not receive a text containing the word OK you will get a text asking you to send the OK message, or you can just reply with OK. This reminder is sent out automatically to anyone who has not yet contacted us that day

3. If there is no response to our reminder texts you will get a call, sometime that morning, from a real person at PetLine365, to check if you are well or not

4. If we cannot reach you by calling you may need help, and we will ask the first person on your contact list to do a physical check on your well-being. If that person cannot be reached we will try the next person on your list, and so on, until we find someone to provide assistance

5. Your contact will be asked to report back to us the same day so we know if it was a false alarm or a genuine emergency

If you work for a charity or rescue centre please give us a mention whenever you are re-homing a pet with someone who lives on their own. Our service is completely free and it may give the pet owner some welcome reassurance. It could mean the pet gets help should their owner suddenly becomes ill. Every year some pets will suffer this trauma
